Young man survives after being involved in an accident which saw an iron hammer pierce through his neck (Photos)

 


 The victim who is a 35-year old bricklayer accidentally fell off from a storey building while at work and landed with the left lateral anterior neck on a hammer standing on the ground with the handle facing upwards

According to the Senior Registrar on call in Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Surgeon Ear, Dr. Ibekwe Nnaemeka, this pierced via the anterior and exited on the posterior. However, as God may have it, he was not in any respiratory distress and vitals are relatively stable on presentation.

Dr. Ibekwe Nnaemeka called out the 2 ENT Consultants, quickly raised alarm and invited the Vascular Surgeons, Burns and plastic, Traumatologist / Spine Surgeons, Anaesthetist, & Theatre Peri-op Nurses informed to get set..!!

While narrating, he said “necessary urgent Investigations were done, thanks to our Med. Laboratory Scientist Friends, who acted promptly as the urgency demands, gave us 4 units of screened / cross-matched blood and provided the results needed as fast as possible.

“Within a short while, all the invited Surgeons storm the Casualty, we quickly wheeled the patient to the theatre and Neck Exploration with foreign body removal was done.

“Miraculous intra-Op Findings: The hammer neatly passed *medial* to the Carotid vessel and IJV and *lateral* to the Oesophagus, Trachea and the Vertebral column.

Tragedy As Family Of Eight Dies On Their Way To Celebrate New Year In Imo.

  A family of eight travelling home for the new year celebration has perished in an auto crash at the Amanwozuzu junction in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State. The incident has caused fear and anxiety within the vicinity.   Our correspondent, who visited the scene of the tragedy, was told by eyewitnesses and police officers on duty that the father of the family who was conveying his wife and children in a Sienna vehicle ran into a stationary truck carrying rods.   According to an eyewitness, the rod pierced through the bodies of the victims and all of them died on the spot.   Policemen and residents broke the vehicle to bring out the lifeless bodies of the family members.   “Policemen from the Ikeduru Local Government area moved the lifeless bodies and deposited same in a morgue.”   The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikeduru LGA, Lucky Ahiole, told our correspondent that the stationary truck was parked at the roadside when the driver of the Sienna vehicle ran into

  Due to alleged molestation by her aunt, she was deceived by one of her a customers who promised to take care of her. The plight of a teenage girl has been brought to the public over her unfortunate condition in Bayelsa state. The 15-year-old girl who is pregnant reportedly sleeps in an uncomplicated building somewhere in Yenagoa, the state capital, after falling out with her aunt. It was gathered that the girl was brought to Bayelsa state from Akwa Ibom by her aunt who promised to enroll her in school but never did so. Instead, her aunt turned her to house help and allegedly maltreated her.
